Prepare ye the way of the Lord.

In Luke, we read that John the Baptist preached baptism and repentance(for the remission of sins) about the country of Jordan. He cried into the wilderness, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.”

John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people. He spoke of being charitable to those in need, of refraining from violence, of honesty, and of being content with what you have.

He was so faithful, holy, and pure in heart- that those listening to his sermons began to wonder if John the Baptist was actually Jesus Christ.

John kindly let them know that he was not- and that he was not even worthy to touch the latchets of Jesus’ shoes.

Just as John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord the first time, we can prepare the way of the Lord before Christ returns to earth again.

We can share the good news just as John the Baptist did- inviting those around us to come unto Christ through repentance, baptism, charity, honesty, and love. So that, as John the Baptist said, “all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

Wishing you a beautiful day!
