After a long journey through Samaria to the city of Sychar, Christ sat down to rest on a well.
A Samaritan woman came to the well to draw water. Jesus asked her for a drink. The Samaritan woman responded with a question. How was it that Christ, a Jew, asked for a drink from a Samaritan? Jews had no dealings with Samaritans.
Jesus responded, “If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.”
He continued, “Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The woman replied, “Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not.”
Jesus Christ provides us with living water. It is as beneficial and necessary for our souls as regular water is to our physical health and well-being. While water is a requirement for physical survival, living water is a requirement for spiritual survival and everlasting life.
May we drink of living water and never thirst again.
Wishing you a beautiful day!
