Jesus went up into a mountain to teach. Many people followed him there because they had recently witnessed the miraculous healings that he had performed.
About 5,000 had gathered in the Savior’s midst. He asked Philip, his disciple, “Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?”
Philip answered that the small amount of bread they had would not be sufficient. However, Jesus already knew how to feed the people- even before he asked Philip about it.
Andrew, another disciple, found a boy in the crowd that had five barley loaves and two small fishes. “But what are they among so many?” he asked.
Christ took the loaves and fishes, gave thanks over them, and distributed them to the disciples. The disciples then distributed them to the gathering of 5,000. When the people were full, the disciples gathered the remaining fragments of bread. Nothing was to be lost.
Twelve baskets full of bread remained from those five loaves.
When the multitude saw the miracle that was performed, they testified of Christ’s divinity. They knew that he was the prophet that was foretold.
Jesus Christ is the bread of life. He feeds us spiritually. If we come unto the Savior, we shall never hunger. If we believe on Him, we shall never thirst.
Wishing you a beautiful day!
